How R2Ro Cabinets are Made

How R2Ro Cabinets Are Made

At R2Ro, every cabinet is built using a controlled, step-by-step process focused on accuracy, strength, and consistency. We combine CNC precision with hands-on assembly to ensure each cabinet fits properly, installs smoothly, and performs well long after installation.

From drawers and doors to full cabinet boxes, each component is made in-house and checked before moving to the next stage.

How Our Dovetail Drawers Are Built

Drawer production starts with solid wood drawer stock. Each piece is milled with a precision groove that holds the drawer bottom panel. This design allows the bottom to sit securely while still accommodating natural wood movement over time.

The drawer stock is cut to size and edge sanded to ensure every piece is straight, smooth, and uniform. Consistent material is essential for tight-fitting joints.

Next, the drawer parts are run through a CNC dovetail machine. This machine cuts interlocking dovetail joints into the ends of each piece. Dovetail joinery is known for its strength and long-term durability, especially in high-use drawers.

Once machining is complete, the drawer is assembled. Wood glue is applied to the joints, the bottom panel is slid into place, and the drawer is pressed together. While clamped, the drawer back is mechanically fastened for added strength.

After pressing, each drawer is sanded so all joints are flush and smooth. A finishing oil is applied to the exposed dovetails to enhance the wood grain and provide a clean, finished look. The result is a drawer designed to operate smoothly and last for years.

How Our Cabinet Doors Are Made

Cabinet doors are built using a solid wood frame-and-panel construction. Production begins with solid wood frame pieces that are milled with an internal groove to hold the center panel.

The frame pieces are cut to size and then mitered at precise forty-five-degree angles. These angled cuts allow the frame to come together cleanly at the corners.

At the same time, flat door panels are cut on a CNC router. Once all parts are ready, they are grouped into complete door sets.

During assembly, wood glue is applied to the joints and inside the panel groove. The panel is set in place, the frame is assembled, and excess glue is removed. The door is then placed into a press to keep it square and properly aligned.

Each door is inspected after pressing. Any remaining glue or dust is removed, and the surface is checked before moving forward in production.

How Our Cabinet Boxes Are Built

Cabinet construction begins with full-size sheets of furniture-grade engineered wood. Before cutting, each sheet is cleaned and positioned on a CNC router table using built-in alignment stops.

The CNC machine cuts each cabinet part with high precision, adding all required grooves, fastener locations, and hardware mounting points. Dust extraction runs continuously to keep cuts clean and accurate.

Once cut, the panels move to the edge banding station. Here, matching edge banding is bonded to all exposed edges using heat and adhesive. This seals the panel and gives it a finished appearance.

Each part is then labelled and organized into carts so nothing is misplaced during assembly.

At the assembly station, cabinet parts are fastened together using the CNC-cut reference points. Every cabinet is checked for square and alignment before moving on. Finished cabinets are palletized, shrink-wrapped, and prepared for delivery.

Built for Accurate Installation

This manufacturing process is designed to support efficient installation and consistent results. Cabinets are fully assembled, dimensionally accurate, and built according to approved drawings.

By controlling every step of production, R2Ro delivers cabinets that fit properly, install cleanly, and perform reliably over time.
